Ok reference; too much math

This book is very mathematically rigorous, often at the expense of physical clarity. However, it is a good reference for the mechanics of calculations because if often gives the route to obtaining the results. Since it's available for free online (see below for the website), it's worth downloading, just to have in case you need to refer to it, but I wouldn't use it to learn from. You're better off using:

de Gennes: Scaling Concepts in Polymer Physics
Doi and Edwards: The Theory of Polymer Dynamics
