Job description : Research & Development – Mechanical Investigation & Testing
Fields of Research:
General topics: Research & Development Engineer in Mechanical Investigation & Testing, Materials & Components, Materials Technology and Science.
More specific: mechanical properties of materials as metals/steel and polymers, mechanical investigations and testing of materials and components, support to the ABB China business as well as global ABB business.
Responsibilities:
perform R&D projects
independently perform mechanical investigations and testing e.g. tensile, compression, flexure related to materials science
characterization of mechanical properties of materials and components
support development projects
customer and material supplier contacts
time planning
testing and experimental work
technical reporting
develop network and cooperation with ABB companies in China and abroad and with external partners
project management
Requirements
background/studies in Mechanical Engineering/Investigations & Testing focused on Materials Science/Technology
PhD candidates or Master Degree with at least 2-4 years experience
above average level in the field of expertise is a pre-requirement
sound knowledge and expertise in more than one of the listed fields: mechanical engineering, mechanical investigations and testing methods, materials, metals, polymers, ceramics, power products and systems
good English skills in written and oral and basic presentation skills
analytical, open minded for new solutions, innovative, creative and action oriented
likes difficult tasks and challenges, interested to learn new things
enjoy experimental work and high capacity for multi tasking
interested in global cooperation and knowledge-sharing
solid practical experience of mechanical testing as tensile, compression, flexure and similar
genuine interest in solving technical problems
good interpersonal and communication skills
excellent team player behavior with high level of initiative and pragmatic approach
previous working experience and knowledge of power technology products and systems is an advantage
