[摘要] The miRNA Registry provides a service for the assignment of miRNA gene names prior to
publication. A comprehensive and searchable database of published miRNA sequences is
accessible via a web interface ([url]http://www.sanger.ac.uk/Software/Rfam/mirna/[/url]), and all sequence
and annotation data are freely available for download. Release 2.0 of the database contains 506
miRNA entries from six organisms.
Note: MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of non-coding RNA gene whose products are 22 nt
sequences that play important roles in the regulation of translation and degradation of mRNAs
through base pairing to partially complementary sites in the untranslated regions (UTRs) of the
message.
[中文简介] 简单地说就是miRNA 的GenBank，一方面用来存储发表或待发表的miRNA；
另一方面可以search 发表或待发表的miRNA。意义：与GenBank 一样，首先是避免重复的
工作，别人做了，你就不用再浪费精力了；其次是参考，对已有的miRNA 可以做直接深入
的研究。
[评论]目前已有一个Noncoding RNAs Database（[url]http://biobases.ibch.poznan.pl/ncRNA/[/url]）。二
者侧重点不一样：The miRNA Registry 只针对MicroRNAs；而Noncoding RNAs Database 包
括的范围要广的多，包括MicroRNAs。具体分为：
o Dosage compensation/X-chromosome inactivation RNAs
o Noncoding transcripts from imprinted genes
o Stress induced transcripts
